Sony got a major jump-start into the digital SLR business when it took over Minolta's camera development in 2006. Ever since then it has proved itself to be one of the major innovators in the market, producing a very successful range of DSLRs before moving on to its current focus on translucent-mirror and Compact System Cameras, in particular the impressive NEX range. Unlike most of its rivals, Sony's NEX Compact System Cameras use APS-C sensors, offering image quality to rival full-size DSLRs, but in exceptionally small and sleek bodies.
