Additive fabrication's transition from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacturing (RM) has been facilitated by the development of materials that have the composition and properties (e.g., strength, stiffness, durability, ductility and temperature resistance) demanded of conventional molded materials. The following are a sampling of those intended to make RM more accessible to composites manufacturers. EOS GmbH (Electro Optical Systems), a Munich, Germany-based maker of laser sintering machines, offers its PA 3200 GF material, a glass-filled ply-amide that withstands high mechanical loads. CarbonMide from EOS is a carbon fiber-filled poly-amide with good stiffness and strength. Both materials run in the EOSINT P class machines from EOS (see main article, p. 32).
