Chemical analysis of the brown alga Dictyota crenulata, family Dictyotaceae, collected at Easter Island, yielded a new diterpene. The structure was determined on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. The insecticidal activity of two diterpenes towards the tomato moth Tuta absolute (Povolny) was tested. [References: 16]
