The presentation will give an insight into typical design problems in tank building, which can be found in real life. Some typical consequences of non-compliant DVS design and material properties are demonstrated. When it comes to tank and apparatus building, two components are essential: the material designed to meet customers requirements and the partner entrusted with the task of assisting. Customers solutions from project planning to completion. In the second part of the presentation experimental as well as FEM based results of a twin-wall sheet are shown. Those newly developed sheets, which can be manufactured from different materials, offer a number of advantages for thermoplastic tank design and application. These advantages can be associated to the release of complex and expensive steel reinforcement, a significantly better thermal and sound insulation in the twin-wall sheet and finally the improved weight-stiffness ratio.
