Hair transplantation creates consistently natural-appearing hair for men and women (Figures 1 and 2). The reason is the exclusive use of 1-4 hair natural groupings of hair follicles, in a graft, as opposed to 10-20 hair grafts used in the past. The procedure has a high patient and physician satisfaction. The evolution away from unnatural "plugs" occurred with several innovations, including donor harvesting techniques, grafts size, and instrumentation. One of the instruments studied for years was the laser. Over the last few years little has been discussed about the current role of lasers with hair transplantation and their potential future role.
