摘要

Dear Editor: Thanks to Dr. Wilbeck very much for expressing interest in my most recent article, "'Did You Just Say . . . The Baby Is Coming!!??': A Nurse's Guide to Prepare for a Safe Precipitous Delivery in the Emergency Department." I would like to kindly acknowledge Dr. Wilbeck's professional insight into my article. As I researched it at the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011, I based my facts on the most current data that I had at that time. I wrote the article with the intention of trying to provide a general overview and supportive guidance for an emergent birth in the emergency department. I do recognize that practices may differ from institution to institution and/or state to state. I also acknowledge that medical data are "old" almost as soon as they are written. I hope that nurses can read this article and use the material to refresh their brains if they have not experienced a delivery in some time. If more experienced nurses then review the material, I hope they can validate their own actions with their peers and perform to the best of their abilities with respect to the policy and protocols that they work within at their place of employment. I appreciate Dr. Wilbeck's feedback and wish her the best with the start of her new fall semester
