摘要

A procedure for RGB-color image compression is proposed, which uses of a gray-tone image- plane synthetic hologram as key element. This hologram is constructed by modulating the RGB channels by numerically calculated fringe patterns. The feasibility of different modulation schemes were presented, the compression and the decompression (or reconstruction) steps used the Fourier transform of the hologram. The influence of crucial features of the modulating patterns on the reconstructed image quality is discussed too. Experimental results are presented to illustrate the method.
