When Dr. Lawrence Parish, as Editor-in-Chief of Clinics in Dermatology, invited me (0. W.) to participate as Guest Editor of the issue on superficial mycoses, I included Dr. Roberto Arenas as Coeditor. He is head of the Mycology Laboratory of the Gea Gonzalez Hospital in Mexico City and a well-known dermatomycologist in Mexico as well as internationally. Later on, Dr. Parish requested that we participate with two additional issues, one on subcutaneous mycoses and the current issue on systemic mycoses. For this latest issue, we invited dermatomycologists and medical mycologists involved in clinical and therapeutic studies of these infections. They hail from the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Brazil, Greece, and Germany. We have tried to include the latest information that can be useful for the clinician in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
