YOU HAVE POLISHED your manuscript. It is by far the most interesting and best-written piece of literature known to man. You submit it knowing full well that not only will it be easily accepted, but you will most likely be showered with accolades as your readers note that you can single-handedly change the way perianesthesia nursing is practiced. Most authors often have high expectations and opinions of their work. The reality is that revisions are required for most manuscripts. Changes may be minor, requiring only light editing or additional references to further support a point of view or assertion. On the other hand, revisions may be major and require a complete reworking of the manuscript. The manuscript may also be rejected. An understanding of what occurs after submission, the role of the reviewers, and the revision process is important.
