Fluoroelastomers are being used to improve processing and eliminate melt fracture in LLDPE blown film. Kynar and Kynar Flex Polymer Processing Aid (PPA) fluoropolymers have been developed as lower cost alternatives to the fluoroelastomer processing aids. This paper reviews rheological and blown film studies, which show that Kynar PPA performs better than or equal to other commercial polymer processing aids in reducing melt fracture and back pressure by migrating from the polyethylene melt and coating the metal of the die.
