This is a very important and inspiring contribution to the interdisciplinary field of poetry therapy. The author focuses on how poetry therapy training can enhance the skills of practitioners in the helping and education professions. I myself have used poetry therapy both as a social worker and as a scholar/teacher of poetry in college English classes, and can attest to its powers. Although working with a classroom of students is different from introducing poetry into a treatment program specially designed for a particular client's needs, Heller's book makes clear that there are tried and true general principles that guide the experienced helper.
