We would like to thank Larson et al for their interest in our recent article concerning inappropriate multiphase CT examinations [1] and for their work with the ACR Appropriateness Criteria? (AC). The AC have been an important step toward improving and standardizing the use of medical imaging. With respect to the current study, Larson et al correctly note that the AC do not generally discuss the number of postcontrast phases because of a lack of evidence, and in the absence of this level of detail, often leave the number of phases up to the clinical judgment of the interpreting radiologist.
