Concern has been expressed within the landscaping industry as to the viability of bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon cv. Tiftway 419) turf following periods of transport and storage. As a measure of such stress, bermudagrass turf was stored on pallets for 3 weeks during summer in full sun, but protected from rain by a retractable rainout shelter. During this time the temperature of the turf on the pallet was monitored, reaching 35deg C, 12deg C above air temperature. Following storage, the turf was frequently irrigated once it had been laid in a typical landscape fashion on sandy soil. After 4 weeks, a 75% recovery of the bermudagrass was observed.
