A slight augmentation rhinoplasty using hyaluronic acid is called "pepit plasty of nose" which means nonsurgical nasal cosmetic procedure, and it is performed widely in Japan as a simple and effective method. One of the advantages of hyaluronic acid is that it is said to disappear within half a year. This is why hyaluronic acid is regarded as a safe material to correct the shape of nose slightly; however, a long-term complication has been observed. Despite of small quantity, the frequent injection of hyaluronic acid for 4 times or more may often cause the recognizable thickness of the skin in the nasal root. The correction of wide and flat protrusion of nasal root is very difficu moreover, it is even impossible for some patients. As far as the risk is considered, the frequent injection of hyaluronic acid to correct the nasal contour may be inadequate in many cases.
