摘要

The field of computer-based medical systems is now active for more than 25 years. In mid-1980s the IEEE Computer Society established a technical committee on Computational medicine. The main task of the committee was to advance the support to medical and health processes and systems with information and communication technology. Many problems have been already solved but with the advancement of the medical and health sciences new problems arise every day. From simple systems consisting of few lines of code written in FORTRAN, computer-based systems have progressed to complex multimillions lines of code long computer programs supporting diagnosing, decision making, optimization, control, regulation, new knowledge discovery and similar.
