He was one of the founders of the Geological Society of India, and was the Editor of the Journalof the Geological Society of India from 1974 to 1992. He continues to write for the journal on a wide variety oftopics. Some of the editorials he has written after retiring from editorship of the journal are: ‘In defence of field-work and mapping’, ‘Mineral resource development and environment’, ‘Gold scene in India and China’, ‘Rain water harvesting’, ‘Glimpses of lost Indian civilizations’, ‘The art of reviewing’1 and recently, ‘India-born Nobel Laureates’2.
