Rising energy costs are the biggest single concern facing UK manufacturers, outstripping worries over labor disputes, falling consumer spending and tightening regulatory policies, according to the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IME). In a statement issued Friday, the institute called for government action but also put pressure on the UK's so-called "Big Six" energy suppliers. In addition, the lobby group for some of the UK's largest electricity consumers said its members were worried about the rising UK energy prices and ambitious new carbon emission targets.
