Kazakhstan aims to take a stake in the giant Karachaganak gas condensate field by the end of the year, Prime Minister Karim Massimov said Friday. The central Asian country has been embroiled in a dispute with the Karachaganak consortium -operated jointly by BG and Eni -for several months as it has tried to secure a roughly 10% stake for national company Kazmunaigas in the field, the only major energy project in the country without government representation.
