Statoil said Friday it had resumed production at the 4.2 million ton/yr (5.8 Bcm/yr) Snohvit LNG plant at Melkoya outside Hammerfest, in the far north of Norway, following a temporary shutdown due to rupture of a firewater line nine days earlier (IOD Jan.16’12). The company said the plant can revert to full production without any production limitations. “We have a good overview of the extent of the damages and we have already started the improvement work,” says Oivind Nilsen, head of operations at Hammerfest LNG.
