The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has estimated that exporting LNG from the US could raise domestic gas prices at the wellhead from 36% to 54% in 2018. Acting at the request of legislators, the US Department of Energy asked the EIA to examine the potential impact of US LNG exports on domestic natural gas prices and electricity rates (IOD Nov.9’11).
