Hong Kong-listed China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) reported stronger production growth than rival giant state PetroChina in the first half of this year, but this did not translate into higher profits for the offshore specialist. PetroChina, on the other hand, managed to increase revenues and earnings while adhering to greater capital discipline -- something investors want to see more of from Chinese majors.
