Libya’s state-owned National Oil Company (NOC) has confirmed that the Sirte Oil Company made a commercial oil and gas discovery in the Sirte Basin onshore Libya. The find lies around 6km southeast of the Nasser oil field. The YYYY1-6 well was drilled to a total depth of 7,806ft (2,379m) and was declared commercially viable following an initial production test of the Waha Formation at a depth of 7,5257,537ft (2,294-2,297m).
