The Repsol Sinopec alliance and its partnersStatoil of Norway and Brazil’s state-ownedPetrobras have made “a discovery of good qualityoil” in the 1-REPF-11A-RJS well, also known asGavea.“The find in Gavea is the most significant madein the pre-salt area of the Campos Basin,” saidRepsol.The well lies 190km off the coast of Rio deJaneiro and was drilled with the Stena Drillmax Idrillship at a water depth of 8,885ft (2,708m). Thewell reached a final depth of 22,477ft (6,851m).
