Novara—Novamont and Genomatica have signed a definitive agreement establishing a joint venture for the production of butanediol (BDO) directly from renewable feedstocks using Genomatica's process (PCN, 19 Sept 2011, p 1). Under the agreement, Novamont will convert an existing facility in Adria, Italy, to Genomatica's BDO process. Novamont, which will have a majority interest in the venture, will finance the conversion and operate the plant.
