Ludwigshafen— BASF has announced plans to invest about ?l-billion to build a single-train 300,000-t/y toluene diisocyanate (TDI) plant and expand other units for TDI's precursors at its Ludwigshafen site in Germany. The plans include construction of a hydrogen chloride recycling plant and expansion of nitric acid, chlorine and synthesis gas units. BASF also plans to expand its Ludwigshafen aromatics complex to increase the supply of toluene.
