London—Ineos Olefins & Polymers Europe has reached an agreement with Evergas to expand a contract for a series of state-of-the-art vessels that will transport U.S. ethane to Ineos' European cracker complexes (PCN, 28 Jan 2013, p 4). Early last year, Ineos signed a 15-year agreement with Evergas for the transport of ethane into Europe from the U.S. Mariner East project, establishing the world's first U.S. ethane export contract. With the expanded contract, which now totals six 27,500 cu m vessels being built in China, Ineos said it has secured additional capacity for the long-term shipping of advantageously priced U.S. ethane to meet the needs of its Rafnes, Norway, and Grangemouth, Scotland, crackers. The earlier contract was for four ships.
