URING A ROUTINE FULL-BODY SKIN EXAMINATION, A 60-YEAR-OLD MAN was incidentally found to have numerous firm purple papules measuring 1 to 2 mm in diameter and covering the scrotum. The patient reported that the lesions had been present for "many years" and were asymptomatic. Diagnosis of an-giokeratomas of the scrotum (Fordyce's angiokeratomas) was made. Angiokeratomas of the scrotum often arise in the second or third decade but are most commonly diagnosed in elderly men. There have been reported associations with thrombophlebitis of the scrotum, varicoceles, and inguinal hernias. The lesions may also occur in women and involve the vulvar area. No treatment is necessary unless there is associated pinpoint bleeding, in which case simple electrofulguration of the symptomatic lesions is curative.
