According to some industry members, the recent sloppy ferrous scrap market, in which prices have moved up-and-down within a small range, is expected to continue. Others say the horizon is darker, with scrap prices expected to drop as the weather improves. Market conditions are not encouraging. Domestic steel mills failed recently in attempts to push prices higher. Prices did move up due to wide availability of finished steel, declining steel exports and fairly soft domestic demand.
