China has hit the pause button on imposing 25% tariffs on US crude imports. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced Wednesday plans to impose 25% tariffs on an additional $16 billion worth of US goods from Aug. 23, including some petroleum products. But crude oil was crucially not on the ministry's list, having been removed from a preliminary list of goods it proposed hitting in June. Other energy products, such as gasoline, fuel oil, coal, kerosene and LPG were, however.
