US President Donald Trump’s announced Friday that he will not certify the 2015 international agreement on Iran’s nuclear program because it is not in the US’ national interest, a move designed to increase pressure on the Opec member to make new concessions. Trump’s decision also punts to Congress the decision on what happens next and introduced months of uncertainty during which the risk rises that economic sanctions limiting Iran’s energy sector could be re-imposed.
