Saudi Arabia is considering delaying or revising a plan to list its shares on an international stock exchange, with alternative options including a private share placement with sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) and institutional investors, the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal reported Friday. The publications said discussions about a private sale to foreign parties, including China, have picked up recently as concerns about the viability of an international listing have mounted. The reports, which cited unnamed sources close to the planned initial public offering (IPO), come roughly a week after Saudi Energy Minister and Aramco Chairman Khalid al-Falih said the IPO plan was firmly on track to take place in the second half of 2018 (IOD Oct.6’17).
