Spot import trade for LondonMetal Exchange-registered brands of coppercathodes, basis delivered China mainports, was lackluster this week, as marketparticipants stayed out of the market witharbitrage opportunities having thinned out,industry sources said Wednesday.Chinese market participants generallyimport copper when there are arbitrageopportunities, resulting in profits. An importrelatedprofit occurs when the import cost ofLME copper is lower than the price on theShanghai Futures Exchange.
