摘要

This is a particularly exciting section of Current Opinion because it addresses three areas of gastrointestinal endoscopy that are evolving or challenging. The first area involves challenging current endoscopic issues such as biliary and pancreatic sphincterotomy, enteral feeding tube problems, performing endoscopy on patients on antithrombotic therapy, and quality assurance for endoscopy. The second area examines evolving techniques such as mid-gut stents, minilaparoscopy in the endoscopy unit, and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) as a therapeutic technique. The final area takes a look at the possible future of endoscopy, and a state-of-the-art update on robotics in endoscopy is presented.
