Breeding more valuable genetics into our seedstock is not as complex as some would have you believe. What is complex is getting your customer to believe what you think you know and what you think you have. It used to be that a person's reputation waseverything, and since that was the case, they'd do whatever it took to assure a solid credible reputation. You certainly didn't want to let a valued customer, friend or family member down. They understood that "track records" take time to develop and trust. They also knew that this most valuable asset could be destroyed or damaged in a much shorter time. We all knew that we would reap what we would sow. We kept our eye on what the people making a living from cattle wanted, because they usually knew what was needed to make it in the real world of bovines. They didn't want us to focus only on low birth weights and high marbling and create cattle that were of less value to them, for instance.
