In July, the Russian coking coal market remains dull due to no positive changes in the segment for downstreamproducts. Demand has not got firmer. The segment for finished products has seen no major changes: it is still oversupplied,preventing most steelmakers from raising capacity utilization rates. The situation is becoming worse for pig iron producers.Most of them have had to cut output amid low demand, reducing coke consumption and thus aggravating the marketglut. Coking coal demand is not rising either under the current conditions. A few consumers have slashed purchasestemporarily, as their inventories were slightly above normal.
