Selected Prunus cerasus seedlings have been cloned and tried in Denmark as rootstocks for sweet and sour cherry (Stella and Stevnsbar type Viki, respectively). Preliminary results showed that several P. cerasus clones are less vigorous than Colt. Flower bud formation and the yield in the second and third years was better for many of the P. cerasus selections than for Colt. Yield efficiency was similar or better for all selections than for Colt, when grafted with Stella, and for most of them when grafted with Stevnsbar type Viki. There were considerable differences in frost damage to flowers among rootstocks, with those on Colt showing the most severe damage.
