摘要

An already weak looking West European new car market sank deeper into the mire when sales fell for the seventh successive month in a row. Acea compiled figures reveal that April sales fell 7.2 per cent, dragged down by slipping sales in most markets. Only Germany, Switzerland and the UK reported a small single-digit rise in April sales. New car sales in Western Europe fell by just over 7 per cent last month, continuing a poor start to the year. The 7th successive fall in a row, with April sales falling well short of year earlier levels in the vast majority of markets, has widened the cumulative sales shortfall at the one-third stage to 7.9 per cent, with cumulative sales already trailing last year's comparatively low levels in ten markets, including three of the region's five major markets.
