摘要

A Physiologist, as a medical person often faces a query about his role in public domain. Several times, it is difficult to answer this. Often general public wonders and is confused about 'Physiology'. Even several educated people have difficulty in deciphering the real difference among physiology, physiotherapy and psychology. For most of them, they sound similar. It is also seen that a physiologist has to explain a lot to make the public understand about the nature of his job. This is due to the fact that there is lack of perception about physiologists' role in a medical college/institution. Since physiologists are not directly involved in public engagement or public health system in our country, the public remains unaware about them. Thus, physiologists in our country face a kind of indifference and lack of support from public. This also influences at times public funding for physiological research.
