Posted 10/5/2020. Sector-specific trade agreements with Taiwan, rather than the full-blown trade deal many U.S. lawmakers have called for, could allow the U.S. to avoid a retaliatory response from China, analysts tell Inside U.S. Trade. The U.S. and Taiwan in recent months have drawn international attention - and China's ire - by strengthening diplomatic and economic ties. Accordingly, some analysts think a sector-specific approach would be more responsible and productive, both for trade diversification and to avoid aggravating China.
