Ferrosilicon prices stand still due to the seasonal lull in Europe, themarket stability in China and the balanced supply and demand in Russia.In August, ferrosilicon (65% Si) has been supplied to end-users at $1,610-1,800/t incl. VAT and delivery, nearly the same as last month.The stability in the Chinese market has the same impact on Russian quotations.In August, offer prices for ferrosilicon (75% Si) at Chinese ports has remained at$1,540-1,550/t FOB, which is, according to Metal Expert's estimates, over $28/dmtufor the material with 65% Si content, including VAT and delivery to Russia, by some$2/dmtu higher than prices from traditional suppliers. Ferrosilicon quotations in thespot market of Europe have decreased by EUR 40-50/t, to EUR 1,240-1,260/t DDPwithin August. However, this does not mean a serious downward trend has been setas there are few deals of small volumes - most consumers continue using thematerial from their stocks filled before the traditional vacation season. Besides,prices for ferrosilicon have stabilized at $1,560-1,580/t CIF in Japan, which is oneof the major importers of Russian material along with European countries.
