In early December, exporters of steel scrap from Japan have faced first difficulties in pushing through price increases. They have failed to realize the planned increase in contract prices to JPY 32,000-32,500/t ($380-3 86/t) FOB at the exchange rate $ 1 = JPY 84.145 because importers were unready to accept the offers of HMS 2 from Japan. Moreover, export prices have also grown by JPY 3,700-4,500/t ($44-53/t) over the past month.
