摘要

Skyrmions in nematic liquid crystals show interesting topological behaviour. In this paper the authors studied the topological physics of skyrmions in nematic liquid crystals entangled with a fixed lattice of woven defect lines. They investigated the duality between topological classes of skyrmions on fixed lattice structures and recurrent states of the Abelian sandpile model. The sandpile height with local skyrmion charge in the lattice and the allowed skyrmion hopping moves correspond directly to generalized collapses in the Abelian sandpile model.
