Asian billet prices rose Friday, after six weeks of decline, as Chinese sellers raised their offers on rising domestic prices. In the Philippines, though Chinese offers were raised by $15-$20/mt, they were still competitive at $475-$480/mt CFR Manila for Q275 120/130 mm January shipment. Vietnamese mills also raised their offers to $480- $490/mt CFR for Q275 120/130 mm, up $5/mt on the week, on stronger Chinese prices, a Vietnamese mill source said. Asian rebar prices fell Thursday -- the fourth day in a row -- as buyers held back in anticipation of lower offers from China amid the winter lull. The market was stable Friday, as most buyers waited on the side lines amid a fall in Chinese spot prices, while some tested the market with small purchases.
