UK hot-rolled coil prices were showing signs of strength Oct. 2, amid a shortage in material as well as longer lead times, with real demand still uncertain, sources told S&P Global Platts. The UK hot-rolled coil index was assessed at GBP 475-495/mt DDP West Midlands UK, up GBP 5/mt week on week. One service center said demand from customers had been “fairly buoyant” throughout September, and was a notable improvement from August. The source also said they had implemented several price increases in the last two weeks, with more expected to follow by early November and into January “at the latest.”
