The use of pesticides subject to reporting requirements in the US state of California fell by 8.4% to 172.2 million lbs (78,110 tonnes) in 2007, according to the latest survey by the California EPA's Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). That follows a 2.9% decline in 2006 (Agrow No 534, p 14). The volume of pesticides for agricultural use dropped by 6.6% to 156.8 million lbs in 2007. Overall pesticide use, including home garden products and disinfectants, amounted to 679 million lbs, an 8.6% drop on the previous year.
