Increased sales of genetically modified seed and higher-than-expected sales of Roundup(glyphosate)herbicide contributed to a 31.1 % rise in Monsanto's sales to 1,405 million in the three months ended November 30th 2005."Stronger adoption of our traits in Australia,coupled with stronger and earlier sales of Roundup herbicides and the addition of the Seminis business,helped make this a record first quarter for our company," says Monsanto's chairman,president and CEO,Hugh Grant.
