Across the 12 issues of Journal of Advanced Nursing in 2009 a total of 255 papers were published, including 167 original research reports and 30 review papers (of which 15 were systematic reviews). Year on year the authorship in JAN becomes more and more international, also with continuing increase of international co-authorship. Journal of Advanced Nursing, with its international authorship and global readership, truly can claim to be an international journal. Last year, once again, Journal of Advanced Nursing maintained its position among the 'top ten' nursing journals worldwide, coming 5th (of 58) in the ISI ranking, with an Impact Factor of 1-654.
