Aphasia is a neurogenic communicative disorder characterized by difficulty in producing or comprehending language. A muhidisciplinary approach to aphasia treatment and recovery is essential in preserving and enhancing self-expression and language. The aim of this article is to provide a theoretical framework for poetry therapy as a complementary method for improving aphasic rehabilitation. Poetry is a medium which can help to develop the communicative and artistic abilities in a person with aphasia.
