摘要

Even-aged trees in lichen/moss pine forests (Pinus sylvestris with Cladonia/Pleurozium schreberi and Dicranum polysetum) were analysed, the crown volume defined on the basis of the crown extension and branch lengths was included as a new character.Unlike traditional cumulative characters such as stem volume or basal of area section, the crown volume is a dynamic character reflecting current conditions of tree growth. In young pine forests, the dependence of total crown volume on tree density is linear, while stands >45 years old, this dependence is approximated with square polynomial. Maximum values of the polynomial correspond to contagious trees possessing wide variability in crown sizes. Based on the altitudinal distribution of the total square of crown sections, spatial crown distribution within the forest was analysed.
