摘要

In this paper, we describe a decision-tree backing-off technique for HMM-based speech synthesis. The system use decision-tree based context clustering technique and MDL criterion as the stop criterion. As opposed to this, we suggest decision-tree backing-off technique which utilizes the large size decision-tree constructed by continuing decision-tree construction until no splitting contacted. The proposed method enables us to adjust the cluster size dynamically according to the input text. The result of a listening test shows that the proposed method improves the quality of synthesized speech. Particularly, it is effective for synthesizing the text included in the training data.
